Hybrid cars first hit the roads here in 1999.
During then, hybrid was not very popular. But today, gas prices are one of the
most critical items adds on to that already costly car maintenance in Singapore. The numbers
of hybrid cars grew by a few times and it is continuing to grow at a very fast
pace.
In the past, a technician dealt with what we all
call a dead battery, although the battery quite often still could have 11 volts
available. On the hybrids, a dead battery could have around 300 volts left in
it. Another challenge involves what to do with these 200-pound battery packs.
Replacing the large battery pack poses a challenge as well.
Today, most of the training on hybrids comes from manufacturers. Hybrid Certified workshop are
only limited to authorize car agent. Recognizing the hybrid's popularity and
need for future maintenance, our company has taken the steps to be certified by
the Automotive Career Development Center (ACDC) in Worcester (USA),Mass., which specializes in hybrid training.
